Emergency Assistance Family Shelter Income Eligibility Limits To be eligible for shelter, your income must be equal to or less than 115% of the Federal Poverty Line. Below is a list of the maximum amount of money you can earn per month before taxes based on the number of people in your family. Your family includes all the people who are applying for shelter. DTA does not count income from food stamps, training stipends (up to $130/month), college grants and loans (including work study), money earned by family members under the age of 14, and up to six months of earnings of full-time students over the age of 14.
