Faith Into Action Together - Objectives

F.I.A.T. will accomplish its goal by:

  1. Ensuring that people who are homeless, at risk, or formerly homeless have a voice in our faith-based reflection/action process and advocacy for justice. In this way we will join our voices with people who struggle to claim what is rightfully theirs - a place to call home.
  2. Providing faith-based educational resources to understand the root causes of homelessness and advocacy trainings to enable people of faith to speak up confidently from a moral and faith perspective. Message: Homelessness is morally unacceptable. Ending homelessness is possible.
  3. Identifying and developing regional F.I.A.T. leaders to carry on F.I.A.T.’s work more effectively.
Linking faith communities with direct service opportunities, especially to families sheltered in local motels, for the purpose of then inviting congregations to take the next step of working for systemic change towards preventing and ending homelessness.
  4. Coordinating collaborative interfaith events and actions thus building new and strengthening existing F.I.A.T. networks.
  5. Engaging faith communities each year to participate in one or two public policy campaigns of the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless through advocacy actions and educating the public through the media.
  6. Increasing the faith and racial diversity of F.I.A.T. activist congregations and volunteer leaders to better reflect the demographics of the communities in which MCH works.
