Be the Bridge: Connecting Families to Stability and Opportunity

Across Massachusetts, families face challenges that impact housing, health, and overall stability.
At the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless, our work addresses these challenges at every stage—through prevention, access to essential resources, early childhood support, and policy solutions that create lasting change. Together, these efforts form a comprehensive approach to strengthening stability for families and individuals across the Commonwealth.
A Bridge to Stability
For many families, stability can feel just out of reach.
A parent working to make ends meet may face an unexpected challenge—a job disruption, rising costs, or a housing issue—that quickly creates uncertainty. At the same time, they are doing everything they can to support their children and maintain a safe, stable environment.
Through MCH’s programs, families are connected to the resources, support, and guidance they need to navigate these challenges. Whether it’s preventing a housing crisis, ensuring a child has a safe place to sleep, supporting a mother and infant, or advancing policies that strengthen communities, this work helps create pathways to stability. Because when families have the support they need, they can focus on what matters most: building a strong and stable future.
Our Programs
The Casa Project: Raise the Roof for Housing
For many families, a temporary hardship can quickly become a housing crisis. The Casa Project works upstream to prevent homelessness by connecting families to housing support, financial assistance, and essential resources.
A Bed for Every Child: A Place to Dream
A safe place to sleep is essential for a child’s health and development. Through A Bed for Every Child, MCH provides beds to children across Massachusetts, supporting their well-being and ability to thrive academically.
Birth to Big Kid Initiative: Start Safe, Start Strong
Early support can shape a child’s future. The Birth to Big Kid Initiative supports mothers and infants through education, essential resources, and ongoing support, helping build strong foundations for long-term stability.
Statewide Systemic Change: Policy for Progress
Lasting solutions require systems that work. Through our Statewide Systemic Change program, we advance policy and advocacy efforts that address housing, income, health, education, and access to essential resources, supporting long-term stability across Massachusetts.
Why It Matters
Each of these efforts plays a role in supporting families today while building stronger, more responsive systems for the future. Together, they represent what it means to Be the Bridge—connecting families and individuals to the resources, support, and opportunities they need to achieve stability and long-term well-being.
